Therapy Carry-Overs and Opportunities to Exercise
The Enrichment Activities program follows through with therapists' orders and offers opportunities during the day to utilize our exercise equipment. We have a Universal Gym, a recumbent exercise bike, a stationary bike and an Elliptical glider. We also feature long hallways for inside walking when the weather makes that the best choice. Outdoor activities are offered including walking on trails or at local parks, horseback riding and a variety of sports. We encourage all that are able to join in to keep physically fit.
Many opportunities are offered as part of the community integration aspect of Enrichment Activities. Fishing, bowling, art shows, movies, museum visits and shopping are some of the favorites. Everyone enjoys a good outing!
Our greenhouse serves several puposes including a quiet space for offering individual and/or small group activities. We also are able to practice gardening skills which can be taken to our outdoor garden spaces.
Also in our Enrichment Activities program is our 14 foot swim spa. This pool features a hydraulic lift to assist non-ambulatory people in and out of the water. Our participants can choose to access the pool for therapy, recreation or relaxation. The swim spa is also available to the community after 3PM daily for people with disabilities. Creative opportunities for art and music are presented during the year. We participate in art programs at local studios when possible. We enjoy music provided by a variety of performers who come to visit us. In addition we provide in-house art and music programs.
Games of all skill levels are enjoyed daily in large and small groups. Let's not forget the Wii games and all the fun they offer. We have also recently added a Sensory Room to our area to fill the needs of those who benefit from this type of stimulation.
Volunteer opportunities are available in many areas of our department, including music and art/crafts, as well as assisting with outings of all types. Please call if you are interested in more information.
